About Bob Scott
Founder & CEO, MoodTrace Health Inc.
For most of my life, I was an observer. I watched people I love struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental-health challenges — and I sat in the waiting rooms while they walked into appointments and came out the same. I knew things their clinicians never got to see: what the week had actually looked like, the nights that were hard, the moments that couldn’t be put into words in a twenty-minute visit. The hardest days, especially, rarely made it into the chart. I wanted to be their advocate. I just didn’t know how. That feeling stayed with me for decades.
Professionally, I have spent more than 25 years leading production, quality, safety, planning, and continuous-improvement systems in complex manufacturing environments. The work was building systems people can actually use: finding where processes fail under real conditions, preserving the knowledge of experienced people, developing leaders, and measuring whether corrective actions truly improve safety, quality, and performance.
ISO 9001 internal auditing has been one part of that career, and it reinforced the discipline that runs through all of it: understand the process, follow the evidence, find the gap between what is intended and what is actually happening — and never accept a claim that cannot be verified.
When those principles met those decades of watching, MoodTrace became the natural result. It didn’t come from a market opportunity. It came from a very specific, very human frustration: the people who need help the most are often the least equipped to describe that need in the room where it matters. I didn’t set out to build another mental-health app. I set out to build a system that remembers what patients have been through, surfaces the patterns, and gives them a voice between visits — and gives clinicians confidence that the information they rely on is complete, measurable, and supported by evidence.
What it is: a free app where patients capture what life actually looks like between visits — daily mood, their own voice and reflections, medications, routines — and a clinician view that turns that signal into measurement-based, collaborative care. And as AI reached clinical paperwork, a third piece: documentation verification that checks every AI-assisted note against evidence and flags what it cannot support. Not two products — one chain of custody for the truth: what the patient lived, captured; what the clinician documented, verified. One example: when a note claims a PHQ-9 score, the verification layer shows exactly where that score came from — or flags that it cannot.
Where I stand: I am not a clinician, and MoodTrace never replaces clinical judgment. What I bring is the discipline healthcare AI is missing — the auditor’s rule that you don’t publish a claim you can’t check. That rule governs this site. We publish our methodology. Our security posture is checkable from your browser. Our manifesto says what we refuse to do. And where something isn’t finished, it says “coming soon” — never “done.” That’s the standard we hold every page to. Hold us to it too — checking claims is how I spent my career, and I’d rather you check ours than take them on faith.
Where we are: MoodTrace is in its founding pilot. We’re inviting a small group of practices to run it in real workflows and measure the results with us — before we make broader claims. That’s how an auditor launches a product.
If you’re a patient — or carrying someone through: the app is free, forever. No ads, no data resale, no paywall on your own mental health.
If you’re a clinician or practice: see your panel’s real picture between visits — and keep 100% of your collaborative-care billing. Book a 10-minute demo.
Give patients a voice in moments they cannot always find their own, and give clinicians a clearer picture of what happens between visits. That’s the principle every feature answers to — and my hope is that better information leads to better conversations, better care, and better outcomes for the families who need it most.
In crisis right now? MoodTrace is not an emergency service. If you are thinking about suicide or experiencing a mental-health emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — 24/7, free, confidential, U.S.), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or go to your nearest emergency room.
